Professor Gabriel Stylianides (Chair)

Gabriel Stylianides is Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of Oxford and Fellow of Oxford’s Worcester College. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. His research focuses on issues related to designing and scaling-up effective classroom-based interventions in both school and teacher education settings with particular attention to the fundamental mathematical practices of mathematical reasoning, proving, problem solving, and problem posing. He has a particular interest in mathematics curriculum, as reflected in his research monograph Curricular Resources and Classroom Use and his article Reasoning-and-Proving in School Mathematics Textbooks, which received an American Educational Research Association SIG/RME Publication Award.

Professor Terezinha Nunes

Terezinha Nunes is Emeritus Professor of Educational Studies at the University of Oxford. Her work on “street mathematics” in Brazil uncovered many features of children’s and adults’ informal knowledge, and her subsequent work in the U.K. investigates how this informal knowledge can be used in education. Terezinha co-leads an EEF-funded research project exploring online professional development for delivering the Mathematical Reasoning Programme in Year 2 ('Reasoning First').

Dr Natthapoj Vincent Trakulphadetkrai

Dr. Natthapoj Vincent Trakulphadetkrai is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of Reading and the founder of the non-profit MathsThroughStories.org His research interests include designing and evaluating innovative classroom-based mathematics teaching practices as well as exploring ways to increase school leaders’ and teachers’ research engagement. Dr. Trakulphadetkrai is currently on an ESRC-funded Policy Fellowship secondment - working for the Education Endowment Foundation (2023-2025). 

Charlie Harber

Charlie Harber is the Lead Teaching and Learning Adviser for primary maths at Herts For Learning Education. Charlie brings considerable experience working across the primary age range as a teacher, subject leader, assistant head teacher and 13 years as a maths consultant at HFL Education. She is also an Professional doctorate in Education exploring primary teachers’ identity and relationship with maths. Passionate about ALL pupils having access to a great and rich maths education.

Jaimie Holbrook

Jaimie Holbrook is a former executive principal and long-serving Ofsted inspector who now provides school improvement support for Enquire Learning Trust. In addition to leading a successful primary school for over a decade, Jaimie has worked in a range of schools in different contexts supporting leadership and school improvement. Jaimie has significant expertise in supporting schools to develop effective pedagogy, design effective curriculum approaches and to build leadership capacity. Central to this work is a focus on the transfer of practice and the need to embrace the collaborative advantage that colleagues, schools and wider organisations can draw on to make sustainable improvements. 

Susan Okereke

Susan Okereke is a maths teacher and communicator. Currently a Lead Practitioner in Maths at a South London school, she also delivers professional development for teachers, writes the website  www.DoTheMathsThing.com  and co-hosts the Maths Appeal Podcast with Bobby Seagull. She regularly presents at maths events for teachers, students and the general public. Susan is on a mission to show that maths is everywhere and for everyone!

Louise Pennington

Louise is Head of Professional Development at Oxford University Press. She is a founding fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and also council member for the Mathematical Association, where she chairs the Professional Development Committee. With a career spanning from classroom to leadership roles, Louise has served as a primary school teacher, lead maths teacher, SENCo, Local Authority specialist teacher for maths and SEND and LA SEND team leader. 

Aidan Gollaglee

Aidan is currently Maths Hub Lead for London South East Plus and Strategic Maths Lead for City of London Academies Trust. Aidan’s own experience of maths education in a rural coastal town in Norfolk inspired him to want to make change. He is an accredited NCETM PD lead and Secondary Mastery Specialist. Aidan is passionately involved in projects delivering: workshops for ITT providers, subject leadership training, multi-academy trusts and talks for organisations such as the maths scholarship programme.

Lydia Davison

Lydia is an Assistant Head teacher in a London primary school who specialises in maths, in particular how to support pupils through the use of manipulatives and oracy. She has worked as a Numicon advocate lead teacher and regularly shares professional development support via her social media platforms (@DavisonMiss). Lydia is lead author for Numicon Essentials and has supported the development of a range of other primary maths products including OUP's Talk for Maths Benchmarks in collaboration with Voice 21.

Rory Dearlove

Rory works as an Assistant Lead at London South East Plus Maths Hub. He has designed and led programmes for Hubs and ITT including leading on R&I Workgroups, most recently collaborating with Voice 21 and OUP to explore integrating oracy into maths lessons. He has a particular interest in Collaborative Lesson Research after participating in the IMPULS Programme at Tokyo Gakugei University. He also participated in the NCETM’s England-China Exchange making him one of very few people to have been on two international trips whilst working as a Primary teacher in the UK! 

Sarah Thornton

Sarah is Director of Primary Mathematics for Co-op Academies Trust with a strong background in curriculum development and improving teaching and learning. Her teaching experience includes both primary and secondary maths and Sarah has leadership experience as a school senior leader, regional maths leader, national trust leader and consulting experience both in the UK and advising international education departments. Currently Sarah is the Director of Primary Mathematics across Co-op Academies Trust, comprising 21 primary academies.

Adam Unwin-Berrey

Adam Unwin-Berrey is a mathematician with specialisation in education and curriculum development. He has worked across primary, SEND and secondary schools. In addition Adam has experience as a senior lecturer in mathematics education in both UK and Finland (research partner at University of Helsinki) and as a special advisor. Currently leading primary mathematics for Lift Schools, Adam is also CEO of Primal Academic Innovations which has developed bespoke curricula and resources for both special schools and international governments.

Harry Paget-Wall Collins

Harry is Director of Education and Strategy at The Gallery Trust, an Oxfordshire-based MAT specialising in provision for young people with special needs and disabilities. Previously she has led schools in a range of leadership roles including headteacher and Executive Principal. She has taught across phases including primary and secondary and specialises in supporting schools to develop their leadership capacity through coaching.

Katie Moore

Katie is Primary Maths Lead for the Cabot Learning Federation, a MAT of 35 schools including 18 Primaries in the South West. In this role Katie provides guidance and support in the implementation and development of Mastery maths in these settings. Prior to this, Katie worked as Maths Lead at Ashley Down Primary School in Bristol and taught across Key Stages 1 and 2. Katie is a Mastery Specialist and LLME for the Boolean Maths Hub and currently runs Work Groups and subject knowledge programmes in Bristol and Somerset.

 

Rebecca Jones

Becca is an Assistant Headteacher and maths lead working in Tower Hamlets. She is also a Mastery Specialist for the London South East Maths Hub and one of the first NCETM mastery specialist teachers. Becca has supported schools to develop their practice in maths across KS1 and EYFS.

Tom Bolshaw

Tom is a primary maths specialist currently working as Education Specialist - Product at Maths Circle (makers of Times Tables Rockstars).
