Oxford University Press Primary Maths Curriculum Review

We are excited to announce that we will be convening an expert group to discuss possible changes to the primary maths curriculum, in light of the recently announced Francis Review into curriculum and assessment in England. See below for more information about the group, its scope and members and how you can have your say. We are delighted that NSM will be at the heart of this debate alongside our partners at Oxford University Press.

The Oxford University Press Primary Maths Roundtable Series

The Oxford University Press Maths Roundtable Series aims to feed into the ongoing debate around curriculum reform, prompted by the Review of Curriculum and Assessment in England, led by Professor Becky Francis CBE. The curriculum review offers the opportunity to reflect on the gains made in recent years in maths education and suggest ways to improve the curriculum offer further to ensure that all pupils are primed for future maths success.

Members

The Oxford University Press Maths Roundtable Series will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, chaired by Professor Gabriel Stylianides from the University of Oxford, including representatives from schools, multi-academy trusts, academics and other experts. Scope

The series will focus on primary maths with a specific remit to explore aspects of practical implementation, including content coverage, pedagogy and assessment. The roundtable will consider how best to ensure that a future maths offer is inclusive as well as the impact of change on pupil and teacher well-being, including addressing the issue of ‘maths anxiety’.

The group will publish its findings in time to feed into the Francis Review and support ongoing system thinking about curriculum implementation.
