Training on Number Fact Teaching
The Number Sense Maths training sessions are designed to help you get the most out of the programme resources. Sessions include free introductory training, free coaching for subscribers, and in-depth training on number fact teaching.
Our free, live introductory webinars are for primary school teachers, TAs and leaders who would like to know more about how to develop the addition and subtraction fact fluency of children in their school.
The training includes 50 minutes on the principles of number fact teaching, an overview of the Number Sense Maths programme and resources, and guidance on starting number fact teaching in your school. There will also be 10 minutes (or more if needed!) for questions and discussion.
The training is suitable both for those new to implementing Number Sense Maths, and for those teaching at schools who have not yet subscribed. The following dates are available to book. Please note the material covered is the same in each session so you only need to come once:
Tuesday 18 May, 4-5pm
Thursday 27 May, 4-5pm
Tuesday 8 June, 4-5pm
Our free, live subscriber coaching supports teachers/TAs who are using the programme in school. There are 4 sessions per term. Before coming to coaching we advise you attend the introductory training and start implementing the programme. You can then use the coaching to improve your understanding and implementation.
The agenda for these sessions is set by you: a week before each session we ask those who have registered what areas they would like support with. We then focus the session on these areas, with discussion and questions after that.
All teachers/TAs at subscribing schools are welcome, whether they want specific support, or just want to learn from the coaching and experience of others. We email the agenda to all subscribers the day before the session in case anyone not yet registered wants to come along.
Thursday 13 May, 4-5pm
Tuesday 15 June, 4-5pm
Thursday 1 July, 4-5pm
Through six sessions, the in-depth training course covers the key elements of number fact teaching:
- Number composition
- Fluency within 10
- Ten and A Bit numbers
- Bridging 10
- Extending to two digit calculation
Teachers join a cohort of engaged number fact teaching practitioners, sharing advice and support in the live training sessions and in the online community group.
The course is held two ways: the first is through six live sessions spread across a full term, the second is a fast track version with 3 live and 3 online training sessions in ~3 weeks. Both versions cost £75 + VAT per person and are open to all teachers/TAs at subscribing schools.
"Thank you so much for the training yesterday evening. It was a really helpful and inspiring session and has provided an excellent springboard for us to discuss how we are going to move forward and embed whole-school practice."

"Thank you for your session the other week - it was really inspiring. I only came for an intervention and seem to have left with a whole school initiative!"
