Training on Number Fact Teaching
The comprehensive Number Sense Maths training programme is designed to help you get the most out of the programme resources, guidance and support to help you implement the programme successfully. All session are free unless a charge is stated, and are delivered over zoom.
Introductory training (open to all)
A free, live introductory webinar focused on how to develop the addition and subtraction fact fluency of the children in your school. The training includes 45 minutes on the principles of number fact teaching and an overview of the Number Sense Maths programme and resources. There will also be 15 minutes (or more if needed!) for questions and discussion.
The training is designed for primary school teachers, TAs and leaders, both for those new to implementing Number Sense Maths, and for those at schools who have not yet subscribed. (The material covered is the same in each session).
Getting going webinar
A free, live webinar for schools getting started with Number Sense Maths. The 30 minute webinar will review the daily plans and guidance written to support launching and implementing the programme. It will also outline and guide you through the actions we suggest taking to ensure all of your staff are ready and confident to start structured number fact teaching.
The webinar is designed for the staff member(s) who will be leading the implementation of Number Sense Maths: the maths lead, KS1 lead or other nominated lead. The webinar is not recorded but there is a recording available to watch in the Teacher Portal if you are unable to attend the live session.
Implementation support and PD (subscribers only)
Our free, live subscriber coaching supports teachers/TAs who are using the programme in school. The agenda is set by you: a week before each session, those registered will be asked what areas they would like support with. The session is focused on these areas, with general discussion after that.
With 4 sessions per term, all teachers/TAs at subscribing schools are welcome. The agenda is emailed to all subscribers the day before in case anyone not yet registered wants to come along.
Please note: We advise attending introductory training and starting to implement NSM before coming to coaching. You can then use the coaching to improve your understanding and implementation.
Through six sessions, the in-depth training course covers the key elements of number fact teaching:
- Number composition
- Fluency within 10
- Ten and A Bit numbers
- Bridging 10
- Extending to two digit calculation
Teachers join a cohort of engaged number fact teaching practitioners, sharing advice and support in the live training sessions and in the online community group.
Open to all teachers/TAs at subscribing schools the cost is £75 + VAT per person. Courses are available during the day or through twilights.
