Early Years Number Sense Programme

The Early Years Number Sense Programme is currently being developed and piloted in schools.
Many of the resources are now live on the Teacher Portal and more will be uploaded soon.

The Early Years resources have been designed to meet the following parts of the 'Educational Programme' for maths in the new statutory framework:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the numbers to 10, the relationships between them and the patterns within those numbers

  • Provide rich opportunities for children to develop their spatial reasoning skills

  • Develop positive attitudes and interests in mathematics, look for patterns and relationships, spot connections, ‘have a go’, talk to adults and peers about what they notice and not be afraid to make mistakes

During the soft launch period, access to the Early Years Number Sense Programme will be through a combined subscription with the Number Fact Fluency programme: existing Number Sense Maths subscribers will automatically have access. From March 1, 2022 access to the two programmes will be via separate subscriptions. At that point existing subscribers will be able to opt in to continue accessing the Early Years Number Sense Programme.
